We are passionate sailors, from dinghies to cruising boats. It has shaped the way we understand the world around us. And sailing a boat and sailing a company have more in common than you would think.
The name Leebow comes from a tactical move in racing: the lee bow. A boat that is behind tacks into a precise position, just ahead and to leeward of the leader. From there, the leader sails in disturbed air, and the boat that was behind moves ahead.
It is not only about speed. Winning a race rests on three things.
Knowing the sea. Every stretch of sea has its own currents, shallows and marks. The US is the same: every sector, every state, every buyer has its own rules, budgets and ways of deciding. You cannot see them from the surface. You learn them by being out there, season after season.
Reading the wind. The wind shifts, and a good sailor sees the shift before it arrives. In a market, the wind is where demand is moving: which buyers are ready, which conversations are on track, and which are going cold.
Choosing the right moment. Tack too early and you lose ground. Too late and the chance is gone. The same is true of a first offer, a negotiation, a deadline or a piece of validation. Timing is what turns good work into results.
That is the race a European company faces in the US. Local players sail in their own waters. They know where the wind turns and which marks matter. A newcomer without local knowledge, however good its boat, will not get very far.
Our job is to bring that knowledge on board, not only to close the gap, but to help our client move ahead.
And Partners, because no boat sails alone. On the water, everyone depends on everyone: one trims, one steers, one calls the next shift. Nobody watches from the dock. That is how we work with the founders we represent: on board, as part of the crew, side by side, getting things done.
